About draft
Hi! I’m Fran. I absolutely love to bake and often invite my kiddies along. I am so excited that you are here! Get ready to indulge your eyes and taste buds. Over the years, I have heard countless people say, “I would like to bake but … I would love to learn how to bake but.” The “but” often has to do with the lack of time and feeling overwhelmed. I am here to say, “I’ve got you covered.” I will share with you recipes that allow you to use what is in your pantry; yes, “use what you got” is what I often say and better yet, they will most often have minimal ingredients.
I am a self-proclaimed recipe junkie. That’s right, hand me a cup of black tea, a sweet munchie, a recipe book or magazine and I am instantly catapulted to my happy place, my very own baking utopia. Oh, how I love that place.
I enjoy researching, testing, and playing with flavours. You will soon discover that I do not follow recipes to a T. Baking is a science, but I have a hard time resisting the urge to substitute a little bit of this and add a little bit of that wherever I can. I can help you do the same. You do not have to be a master chef to create delicious desserts you are proud of. I will share simple recipes you can whip up fairly quickly and tips that can get you through the process.
I love immersing myself in the creative process of each product I offer my clients. The same rings true for the creation of the Boxed ‘n Bougie dessert line. This bougie ‘done for you’ collection makes excellent gifts and are fantastic for personal indulgence.
FRAN’S STORY
I remember growing up surrounded by my family of bakers and being my Mom’s little helper. I would crack the eggs and lick the bowl leaving behind no trace of the delicious cake batter—of course this was my favourite part, yum! But one Christmas marked an exciting part of my baking journey. It was love at first sight when I unwrapped an Easy Bake Oven! I could finally bake a cake all by myself! It was the greatest feeling creating and contributing to our family baking tradition on my own. Just picture it, a little girl sitting at the dinner table with a pint-sized cake beside her dinner plate and a proud smile on her face—that was me!
My Aunts had the best collection of dessert recipe books, and oh did I love going through them and excitedly choosing my next recipe to bake! This is probably the reason why I’m still a recipe junkie! I also loved visiting my Aunt’s Northern Ontario farm. It meant spring and summertime fun, picking and baking the freshest and sweetest strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries I’ve ever tasted. Christmas at the farm was my favourite time of the year. Every day for the few days leading up to Christmas, you felt a big warm hug in the house from the smell of shortbread cookies, European delights, and rum cake that I helped bake. As you can see, baking in my family is like a celebration and enjoyment of life.
Through my teenage years, I baked for family events, friends, non-profit organizations, and my Mom’s co-workers to help them celebrate their own events. But it wasn’t until after the birth of my first child that I felt an urgency to step out and start my own business. Through much self-reflection, I made the decision to take a leap of faith and turn my passion for baking into a business.
The journey has been exhilarating. I still get that same feeling I had as a little girl with my Easy Bake Oven. Now, the joy I feel in providing creations that take my customers and their guests through an unforgettable visual and tasting experience is almost indescribable. I not only gained from my family wonderful memories, but also an appreciation of baking from scratch—valuing the genuine flavours of natural ingredients, as well as the people you share them with. I honour this in my creations.
To say that I enjoy what I do is an understatement. I get to help people celebrate themselves and loved ones. How exciting is that?!
I LOVE YOU. I SEE YOU. YOU MATTER.
